About Azure Bay

A five-star resort on the California coast, opened in 2009 by a family who loved this stretch of shoreline — and never stopped trying to share it well.

A love letter to the coast

Azure Bay began with a single weathered beach house and a simple idea: that a hotel should feel less like a lobby and more like arriving somewhere you belong. When we opened our doors in 2009, we had twelve rooms and a borrowed espresso machine. Today we have 120 rooms and suites, a signature spa and three restaurants — but the idea hasn't changed.

Everything we do is measured against the same question our founders asked on day one: would this make the stay quieter, kinder, more memorable? It's why our team stays for years, why guests come back for decades, and why we keep the resort small enough to know your name.

The newest member of that team is our AI concierge — the SLAtech Hospitality assistant — answering guest questions and taking bookings around the clock, so our people are free to do what they do best: look after you in person.

The Location

Where we are

Between the mountains and the sea, on one of California's most beautiful bays.

On the Bay

Our own crescent of sand and a private cove, with the Santa Ynez Mountains rising behind.

Minutes to Town

A short stroll to State Street's shops, galleries and the historic Santa Barbara waterfront.

Wine Country

The vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley are a scenic half-hour over the pass.

Sustainability

Kind to the coast that made us

This coastline is the reason we exist, so protecting it isn't a programme — it's the point. We run the resort on 100% renewable electricity, we've cut single-use plastics across every restaurant and room, and we source our menus from Santa Barbara growers, fishers and vintners.

Our gardens are planted for pollinators and drought, our water is reclaimed for irrigation, and a share of every stay supports the local marine conservancy that keeps the bay alive.

  • 100% renewable electricity
  • Single-use plastics eliminated
  • Locally sourced menus, daily
  • Reclaimed water for all irrigation
  • A share of every stay funds marine conservation
